A British garden border classic, this dainty blue flower postcard is the perfect thing to send to a friend, or pop up on your pinboard.

English Garden Postcard

This delicate floral postcard features the Centaurea flower. Created from tiny sketchbook illustrations, transformed into this pocket-sized postcard.

Made in the UK using sustainably sourced card from a UK manufacturer, this A6 notecard comes in a sturdy, 350gsm thickness. There is space on the back for a stamp, address, and a short message.

Sometimes called the Cornflower or Perennial Cornflower, this sculptural blue flower is a British garden mainstay. Stash this pretty floral postcard in your card drawer for the next time you need to send a little note - pop in the postbox, or tuck into a gift bag.

As part of the Homestead collection, this botanical design was inspired by dreams of a nostalgic, rose-tinted cottage lifestyle of wildflower meadows, dainty floral china patterns and well-worn floral fabrics, and is designed in a botanical illustration, field-guide style.

Designed, Made, Packed and Shipped in the UK

I believe in BIG LOVE. I believe in loving easily, caring unashamedly and being the kind of person to make the effort - to go the extra mile. Sustainability is a necessary part of these values - a value that guides every choice made behind the scenes (and out-front!)

I am dedicated to making the best choices for sustainability within my business, wherever possible. Annie Dornan Smith products are designed, made, packed and shipped ethically in the UK. Sometimes shipping supplies are sourced overseas, but where this is the case, they are chosen as the most sustainable and ethical option that retains that everyday magic. They are FSC certified and printed with vegetable based inks.

Everyday Magic

Each and every one of my products is designed with a little bit of everyday magic in mind. My first commitment to sustainability has always been to create a quality product destined to live a long lifetime. Whether that's considered, timeless designs that outlast trends; thicker, quality paper stocks that will travel from home-to-home, room-to-room; and cards with versatile messages to suit many occasions and span seasons; they are all intended to be treasured, and to combat wasteage and throwaway culture.

FSC Certification

I try to source all of my paper based products and packaging - from Greetings Cards to Gift Wrap to Prints - from FSC certified suppliers wherever possible. Any older designs are being slowly replaced with FSC certified cardstocks wherever possible as they sell through or are discontinued. For more information, read what is FSC?

Greetings Cards

As well as being printed with FSC certified suppliers, all Greetings Cards and Backing Cards are recyclable. Special finishes such as foil are so thin, that it completely dissipated during the re-pulping process, meaning foiled cards are still recyclable. I source my cards from Suppliers who are committed to environmentally sustainable practices - from re-purposing waste paper as packing materials, re-filling ink canisters, and returning waste products to suppliers for repurposing.

Reducing Single Use Plastics

With the increasing availability of plant-based cellophane sleeves, I am dedicated to lessening my impact by making the switch from plastic cellophane to plant-based cellophane. All new greetings cards from October 2019 onwards are packaged in biodegradable cellophane, which breaks down completely into CO2, water and biomass. It can be put in any compost bin provided by your Local Authority.

All other products that require a cellophane bag to keep them safe, clean and dry, will be switched to a biodegradable bag as old stock sells through and are discontinued or replenished.

I always request that suppliers refrain from shipping items in plastic wherever possible. Where the use of plastic shipping material (such as bubble wrap or void fill) is unexpected or unavoidable, it is always saved and repurposed in shipping more delicate orders, or for protecting larger order to stockists. You can be sure that your order will never contain plastic shipping materials that is brand new.

Shipping and Packaging

In 2019, I fully committed to switching to recyclable shipping materials. Since the very beginning, I have always used sturdy, cardboard shipping envelopes and boxes for shipping your orders, but have since have extended those efforts to encompass all shipping materials (except where plastic packaging from suppliers is repurposed - see above) to make your shopping experience magical, and kind to the environment. Each order is wrapped in FSC certified tissue and stickers, packaged in cardboard or paper bags and sealed with paper tape.

Any delicate items are wrapped in tissue and paper "bubble wrap", or padded using repurposed bubble or void fill from supplier deliveries. If for any reason you'd like to request absolutely no plastic packaging to be used in your order, you can always leave this request in the notes section of your order, which I would be happy to honour.

BIG LOVE

I am always trying to find ways to improve the sustainability of my business and would absolutely, genuinely love to hear your ideas. If there's anything you think I should know, or a more sustainable alternative I need to try, don't hesitate to get in touch: hello@anniedornansmith.co.uk
